Today is a good day. After seeing the news about The Rugrats reboot, Paramount Plus have announced they are currently producing a new Beavis and Butt-Head film. Excited isn’t even the word. For nostalgic reasons, I'm here for it.
"So like, we're making a movie," announced Butt-Head. "And it's gonna be on Paramount+," Beavis adds in. The creator of the show Mike Judge has also commented “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again”.
After hearing their famous giggles at the end of the zoom teaser, I was transported back to my childhood where I remember watching the 90s show on MTV way after bedtime. Back then, I knew it wasn’t a cartoon made for children, but I couldn’t get enough of the duos crazy humour and how everything to them was a joke.
With no release date yet, I’ll be following this production closely to see how things develop. I'm sure the teams at Comedy Central and Paramount must have something great in store for us because, in the 90s, the creators always found ways to push the boundaries on things that would now be deemed inappropriate.
Beavis and Butt-Head are so iconic that when I think of the show, I always remember Celebrity Deathmatch. They used plasticine in a way I had never seen before and I don’t think I've seen it since. They had celebrities fighting like it was an extreme episode of WWE. Heads flying and insides coming out. It was creativity at its finest.
Keep checking in with me for updates on the Beavis and Butt-Head film.
